Repairing
the Opening to a Storm Drain / Catch Basin
|

|
 |
This
storm drain/catch basin opening has been damaged and collapsed
numerous times by the rear wheels of heavy tractor/trailers making
right turns at this corner. |
 |
Having
determined that the lintel requires additional support to withstand
this abuse, holes are here being drilled in the concrete for two support
bolts. |
 |
Here
you see the lintel, with the two support bolts being installed
and the steel rebar being straightened. Note the opening between the
rear of the lintel and the existing concrete, an area that would be
difficult to form from below. |
 |
The
area behind the lintel is now being effectively spanned with the
use of FUSION-CRETE® 5-Minute Concrete, a product that develops
a dough-like consistency just prior to hardening, allowing it to be
used for situations such as this. |
 |
Here
you see the area above the lintel and extending to the sidewalk
being primed with FUSION-CRETE® "premix" prior to the application
of the repair material. |
 |
Now
the repair material has been applied and trowel finished on top
of the lintel, surrounding the steel rebar and extending to the sidewalk. |
 |
The
fishing touches are here being applied to the sides of the opening
to complete the project. |
|
Estimated time required for this installation: 3 hours.
