 |
This
storm drain/catch basin is immediately adjacent to the driveway
leading to a major gasoline/service station. The rear wheels of heavy
tanker trucks delivering gasoline to this station have repeatedly
collapsed the lintel and its concrete topping in manners similar to
that shown here. Previously, such damage was corrected by complete
removal and replacement at tremendous expense. This time, a FUSION-CRETE®
concrete-adhesive/enhancer product will be used to repair the
damage. |
|

|
All
of the broken concrete pieces and other debris have been removed
from the repair area. The collapsed lintel is now clearly exposed
and ready for straightening. |
 |
The
lintel has been jacked up to its proper position with the use
of the two jacks seen in this and the previous photograph. Three clusters
of heavy steel rebar have been inserted to temporarily provide the
needed additional support to this section of the lintel. Several days
later, when the repair concrete had set up sufficiently, the host
community's welder removed the clusters of rebar and welded heavy
support bars to the underside of the lintel extending down into the
concrete roadway below for permanent support. |
 |
Following
surface preparation and priming, the FUSION-CRETE® - modified
repair concrete is being placed and finished. |
 |
The
adjacent portions of the driveway approach have also been repaired. |
 |
The
top of the lintel, a small portion of the adjacent sidewalk and
the concrete inside the opening of the storm drain/catch basin have
all been beautifully repaired with the use of FUSION-CRETE® products. |
 |
Substantial
savings were made possible with the use of FUSION-CRETE® products
by eliminating the need to remove and replace this severely damaged
storm drain/catch basin. |
|
The
estimated time for completion of this project, not including the welding
which was performed subsequently: 3 ¼ hours. |
